Natalee Holloway--Afternoon Update

Judge: Joran Van der Sloot Can Be Questioned By FBI

The motions that were argued in the Aruba criminal court Tuesday regarding the suspects' samples of DNA evidence have been ruled by the Judge. All of the DNA evidence is said to have been thrown out - however, the tests can be conducted again through the proper procedures. Defense attorneys had challenged the testing as they claimed to have not been given enough time to argue against the procedure.

In possibly the most important development, a judge has ruled that suspect Joran Van der Sloot can be interrogated by both Dutch and FBI officials.

A REAL 'PUKEY' JOB

This is the BEST punishment I've seen in a long time! Right on Judge Farley!

Teen who threw up on teacher sentenced to clean vomit from police cars

OLATHE, Kan. (AP) — A high school student convicted of battery for vomiting on his Spanish teacher has been ordered to spend the next four months cleaning up after people who throw up in police cars. Johnson County Magistrate Judge Michael Farley said during the sentencing Tuesday that he considered the boy's actions "an assault upon the dignity of all teachers."

The teen, now 17, vomited on teacher David Young as he turned in his textbook on the last day of classes at Olathe Northwest High School. His attorney, Brian Costello, said the student vomited because he was nervous about his final exams. But two other students testified that the teen said he threw up intentionally. One girl said he told her in advance that he planned to throw up on Young on the last day of school. The girl wasn't in class when the teen threw up, but she testified that the boy later told her, "You missed it. I did it." Young said the student, who was failing his class, made no effort to avoid throwing up on him. "I was just sort of stunned," he said.

ANOTHER MISSING PREGNANT WOMAN?

PHILADELPHIAPhiladelphia police were intensively searching the area of Cobb's Creek Park Thursday for clues to the whereabouts of a pregnant woman missing since early last week. LaToyia Figueroa, 24, is five months pregnant and has a 7-year-old daughter. She was last seen on July 18th walking from a friend's house after going to a doctor's appointment with her boyfriend, the father of her unborn child. Her father, Melvin Figueroa, told FOX News he was worried about her disappearance. "Something's foul, something's wrong because LaToyia is not the type of person to do this," Figueroa said.

LaToyia's father also elaborated on his daughter's relationship with her boyfriend. "Two months ago, she was coming out of her house at 57th and Spruce to go to work, and a young lady pushed her. The young lady turned her around and kicked her in the stomach," said the elder Figueroa. "Since then she's been having problems with her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend," he added. "I think he's using the two ladies against each other, and it's not right." Police said LaToyia's boyfriend was cooperating with investigators.

Stephanie Stephenson, LaToyia's cousin, who raised her after LaToyia's mother was murdered, told FOX News she knew the couple was having problems. As far as Stephenson knew, t
here was no violence involved. “She did make me aware of the situation [with her boyfriend], it is a possibility," Stephenson said. "I am not ruling out a lot of things. I have concerns and anything is possible." Stephenson added that she did not trust the boyfriend because "there's just something about him."

When asked about reports that her boyfriend was the last person to have seen her, her father said, "Yes, the young man says he dropped her off at 52nd street. Then he came back and said something else. I don't know — he's got so many different stories." Her cell phone h
as gone quiet since that day and her bank has not recorded any transactions on her account, officials said.

Christine Lewes, a childhood friend and high school classmate, said LaToyia was very responsible and had never missed shifts at her restaurant job until her disappearance. She is 5-foot-2 and 130 pounds, and African-American. Anyone with information about her disappearance can call 215-686-3183.

Michelle's Opinion

It’s sad to say, but the reality is the number one cause of death for pregnant women is MURDER. Yep, that’s right…murder. What kind of society do we live in where a man would kill a pregnant woman? The symbolic nature of pregnancy is one that all cultures have embraced since the beginning of time.

However, it seems within the last 10 years, violent crimes against pregnant women are on the rise.

The most recent addition to the ‘Journal of Sociopaths’ is the cunning and conniving Scott Peterson. As you all know, he was tried and found guilty of the murder of his pregnant wife, Laci. Laci was 8 months pregnant with a baby boy they named Conner. Laci was only 27 years-old. After 4 months, her body washed ashore along the San Francisco Bay. Baby Connor was found along the rocks some distance away from Laci. Will we ever know the truth about his motive?

Another notable psychopath is former pro football player Rae Carruth,. He was convicted of plotting the murder of his pregnant girlfriend, and was also found guilty of "using an instrument with intent to destroy an unborn child." His girlfriend eventually died from gunshot wounds, but her baby was delivered by Caesarean section 10 weeks early and survived. Two good things come out of this scenario. (1) Thank god that not every black athlete or entertainer is found innocent; and (2) the baby survived. That child’s mother will live on through that miracle child.

Oh! I don’t forget the good-old MENTAL PATIENT, Mark Hacking. He is the man who lived two lives…he told everyone, including his family, that he was a college graduate and had been accepted to medical school. His career path would take him to psychiatry. He even swindled his
way into claiming he was a doctor at the hospital he worked at by holding group therapy sessions with some of the patients. Shortly before Mark and Lori's departure to North Carolina for his supposed medical “schooling”, Lori finds out she is pregnant. She is thrilled beyond belief. However, weeks later she is dealt with the blow of finding out that her husband is an imposter and a pathological liar. Hacking recently plead guilty to the murder of, Lori Hacking, who was also only 27 years old. Her body was eventually found in a landfill many weeks after her disappearance. Her body was so decomposed that the medical examiners could not verify whether or not she was pregnant.

FEEDBACK: Coca-Cola Calorie Burning Soda

INTERESTING READER FEEDBACK

I don't know about this new "Enviga" Coke product. The original recipe waaaaay back when had cocaine in it when it was still legal and available at the corner drug store. After people got addicted and it became illegal, they started using caffeine. Green tea AND caffeine??? Might as well just legalize cocaine and start using THAT again.

Hey, Coke executives! You know what else speeds up the metabolism?? For starters, simply cutting back on sugar and excercising regularly. This doesn't sound to me like it would be a "diet" product, per se, unless MAYBE they sweeten it with like Splenda or something. Otherwise the sugar content of this product might end up just cancelling out metabolic enhancements that many people might expect if focused on the green tea part and the advertisements simply telling them "you'll lose weight on this shit."

Personally, I don't trust it any further than I can piss it. It will be interesting to see how this gets marketed to the general public. I won't be surprised if the majority of people we see pulling from an Enviga bottle also happens to have an iPod strapped to them as well. (Which reminds me...I really do need to get one of those damn things).

News of the Bizzare

Wife cuts off husband's penis

A Thai woman cut off her husband's penis after he asked her to make love one more time before he left her for another woman.

Saithong Wantha, 53, then asked neighbours to take Udom Phorit, 35, to hospital while she turned herself in to police, reports The Nation. Nieghbours got hold of Udom's sister, Boonsong Ansanghan, but they could not find the severed organ. They had to call Saithong on her mobile phone. She told them she had tossed it behind the fence in the front yard. Nearly two hours went by before surgeons at Khon Kaen University's Srinakharin Hospital could operate. Finally, they reattached Udom's penis, but said there was only a 50-50 chance it would function properly. Saithong, 53, told police at Kosum Pisai that she cut off Udom's penis in a fit of rage because he was leaving her. She hoped he would stop philandering and stay with her if he could no longer function sexually. "I love him and I don't want him to leave," she said.

Michelle's Opinion

I don't think I need to say much about this. Right on for Saithong! What man in their right mind would have the nerve to ask for a last piece before he moves on? The idiot deserved it. The only thing I think is sad is that this woman said, "I love him and I don't want him to leave." That's pretty pathetic. My words of advice to this poor woman: Men are a dime a dozen. Get rid of the loser and move on. You'll thank yourself later!

Calorie Burning Coke?

COCA-COLA TO RELEASE CALORIE-BURNING SODA

Michelle's thought:
What do you think of this??? Sounds pretty weird to me...

NEW YORK--Coca-Cola is planning to launch Enviga, a soda that is said to burn 50 to 100 calories just by drinking a 12-oz. serving, next year, per one executive.

Enviga, a green tea-based, caffeinated, carbonated drink, is in clinical testing and is said to speed up the user's metabolism. The beverage will target active lifestyle
consumers. A Coke rep said, "Some [of our projects] may find their way to market and some may not." Studies have shown that drinking green tea may promote weight loss by stimulating the body to burn calories.

Stupid Criminals

"PUSHING" UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Two Indiana women charged for drunk "driving" of broken-down Chevy

Meet Kaylyn Kezy and Melissa Fredenburg. The Indiana women were busted early Friday morning and charged with drunk driving after Fredenburg's Impala hit a parked car outside a Portage motel. Nothing too unusual with that, except neither Kezy (pictured below left) nor Fredenburg was behind the wheel when the crash occurred. The Chevy had broken down and Kezy, 34, was pushing it while Fredenburg, 32, steered from the passenger seat (not too well, as it turned out). After they dinged a '92 Chrysler, cops arrived on the scene and discovered that the duo appeared tipsy. Both women failed subsequent breath tests, registering identical .17 blood alcohol contents (more than twice the state's legal limit). Kezy and Fredenburg were charged with misdemeanor DUI, since, cops contend, they both were operating the vehicle. After posing for the below mug shots at the Porter County Jail, both women posted bail and were released.

Indianapolis Authorities to Crackdown on Curfew Law

CRACKDOWN ON CURFEW LAW

Looks like Indianapolis is finally doing something about the curfew law. It only took five youths younger than 16 to die in shooting related incidents since June 10 for the Indianapolis Police Department to do something about it. Most recently the death of a 15 year-old boy who was egging cars on Sunday night after 11:00 p.m.

Officers said they will conduct sweeps in some areas, checking the IDs of those they suspect of being underage. Violators may be detained at a holding area until parents or guardians can be contacted to take them home.

Michelle's Opinion

Back in the late 80's and early 90's when I was in high school living in Racine, Wisconsin (which is notorious for gang activity and other serious crimes) the LAW was that NO MINOR could be out after 11:00 on ANY day. It was strictly enforced. I remember freinds getting caught by the cops and getting tickets. Being out past curfew wasn't something you flaunted by running the streets...it was too easy to get busted.

In addition, what is wrong with these parents allowing their children to roam the streets at all hours of the night? My parents were always concerned about where I was going, when I would be home and who I was with. Of course I would sometimes lie about what I was doing, but at least my parents had the sense to set some ground rules. It doesn't sound like the parents in Indianapolis are doing their jobs as parents by caring for the welfare and safety of their children by imposing rules and consequences. What happened to the parents of the past?

Remember that old commercial, "It's 11:00 p.m...do you know where your child is?" I used to laugh at that, but now it's oh-so-true.

WAKE UP PARENTS! BE A RESPONSIBLE PARENT. IT IS A GIFT, NOT A PRIVILEGE!

New Natalee Holloway Update

NEW EVIDENCE FOUND

Fox Update--Tito Lacle confirms male DNA found on Natalee Holloway's toothbrush. Without additional information that either Natalee returned to her room alone, or with one of the boys, it's hard to understand the significance of this new evidence. Also claims several witnesses besides the Gardner have come forward to corroborate whatever information is leading to the draining of the pond. Search is also underway for a missing shoe (sneaker) of Joran Van der Sloot.

Update--Attorney of Joran Van der Sloot is fighting additional interrogation. Court hearing on Friday 2 PM. A procedural mistake in taking the DNA samples may delay the case. Possibility is that the judge allowed the DNA to be taken without the defense having been heard. This would present more of a time delay than anything, as the prosecution could re-apply for the permission to take the DNA samples.

CAN YOU READ FACES?

Michelle's Mid-Day Thought

Are there any experts out there that can read people's facial expressions and body language to determine what they are thinking or feeling? Well, it certainly doesn't take an expert to look at this kid, Joran Van der Sloot ("Van der Slut" is what I like to refer him as) and read his mind. He's saying:

Oh F*CK...I am in deep shit. Where's my daddy?

His face definitely does not say to me "Release me! I'm innocent!"

FEEDBACK: Extreme Divorce

Here's a great response I received regarding the Extreme Divorce post. And wow, it's from a MALE PERSPECTIVE!

Right on, Michelle!! I've never been married and I also happen to be male...so perhaps it may seem that I don't have an opinion in this matter (not by you, just in general). But I do because I feel I represent a faction of males who respect and support women and abhors any man who degrades females because of ridiculous ignorant machismo.

Kathy is in her right to be upset with the level of disregard her ex-husband may have had for her. But her unrealistic proposal of getting a paycheck from her husband only PERPETUATES antiquated gender politics. There are terms that get thrown around even to this day..."A REAL man does this..." and "A REAL woman is that..." and this disgusts me to no end. Nothing turns me off more than a woman who does NOT know how to take care of herself as a responsible adult and specifically looks for a man to be "the man"...to take care of her, which just sadly adds to the level of superiority that many men already have. And conversely I would never expect a woman to respect me if I couldn't take care of myself as well. Men AND women should know how to cook, clean, raise children (if they choose to have them, that is), manage their money and be respectful of each other.

The bottom line is that we cannot define ourselves through someone else. Kathy cannot blame her ex-husband for not taking care of her properly, which is what her real gripe seems to be regardless of the issue of basic respect. Her greatest reward from this experience, in my opinion, would be to start a new life for herself (perhaps much easier said than done, I realize) that would someday make her realize that her place in this world...either single or married...is worth more than $500,000...that it's priceless. As you put it, she should cut her losses and work on moving on.

Natalee Holloway BREAKING NEWS!

Pond Being Drained

MSNBC reports that officials are draining a pond near the raquetball club. The pond is said to be being drained based upon reports from one of the new witnesses. In addition, this pond is mere yards away from where the 3 suspects were seen by the new witness that came forward on Monday.

MORE NEW INFORMATION

A second new witness told a private investigator hired by Holloway's family that she saw van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers drive into the Racquet Club three times that same night. The woman, who lives near the nightclub, has not yet spoken with investigators, he said.

DID YOU KNOW?

According to CNN, Joran Van der Sloot has changed his story 22 times since he was detained 2 months ago.

EXTREME DIVORCE

An Indiana woman is trying to get a paycheck for hours of work she did as a wife. She's divorcing her husband and said she's sending him a bill for almost $500,000 for housework she says she did and kept track of over the years. After five years of marriage to Gary Thompson, Kathy said she's trying to be reasonable. She's filing for divorce, but isn't asking for a normal alimony payment. Kathy has drawn up an itemized bill with what she believes Gary owes her. The itemized bill includes such charges:

$42,000--cleaning
$35,200--cooking
$17,600--laundry
$1,200--yardwork

Kathy doesn't think she'll actually get the $500,000 she's asking for. "It's not about the money. It's about standing up for women's rights and the respect they deserve and their duties around the house," Kathy said. "I know there's men that work hard too, but a woman doesn't get a day to take a break."

Michelle's Opinion

First of all, this is the most ludacris thing I have ever heard. I understand Kathy's plight of being annoyed and pissed at her husband for not doing his share of the household responsibilities. However, I don't understand her level of idiocy.

Here are my thoughts:

1. Hey Kathy listen up! Did you know it's 2005? Do you really expect a man to get you through life financially? When you hear talk about social security, do you rely on the fact that your money will be there when you retire? NO. You put aside money on your own and reiterate to yourself how you won't let the government screw you over in the end. Same concept here.

2. Unfortunately, the likelihood of divorce is almost inevitable these days. This woman is calling it quits after 5 years with no children. Did you think those vows didn't apply to you? You want compensation?! I would consider alimony a plausible argument if I were talking about a mother of 3 and 25 years of marriage. However, those are the women of the past. Did you know that today's world gives women the opportunity to do it themselves? These last 20-30 years have been like no other time in history for women. I'm sure you will manage just fine, Kathy.

3. Kathy, it's women like you who give the rest of us a bad name. I despise it when men throw the word "psycho bitch" around. It's degrading and disrespectful. And it doesn't apply to a lot of us...some of us are reasonable human beings. Cut your losses and walk away.

4. I am not a hypocrite for stating my opinion in this matter. I too was married for 5 years to a slob who never did his fair share. I walked away with nothing. And I didn't expect a dime. And why should I? I'm not handicapped or dying.  JS!

Teen Shot and Killed After Throwing Eggs at Cars

Indianapolis Star

To the teenage boys, egging the vehicles Sunday night was just a prank. So when one driver got out of his pickup truck and cursed at them, 16-year-old Jude Sayles didn't worry. "I just figured that they'd call the police and that'd be the worst that would happen," Sayles said. "I didn't know he was going to shoot us."

Minutes later, his best friend, Brandon Dunson, 15, lay fatally wounded, a bullet fired from the truck lodged in his stomach. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg. The motorist in the red or maroon Ford truck, with a white stripe, fled the scene. Late Monday, Marion County sheriff's detectives were seeking the public's help in locating the driver, a white male in his 30s who witnesses said was at the wheel.

Detectives aren't sure why egg throwing turned a motorist into a killer. A sheriff's report suggested a possible reason for the level of his rage. After the driver stopped his pickup truck -- but before the shooting -- he approached another vehicle that also had been egged and told the female driver that an egg had gone through his window and hit him in the face. "It's OK," he added, "because I have my rifle."

The Far-Westside killing was the fifth shooting death in less than seven weeks of boys 16 and younger in Marion County. Again, loved ones grieved. "Like any 15-year-old, they are going to get into a little bit of mischief here or there, but nothing that was deserving of something like this," said Frederick Dunson, 32, Brandon's uncle.

Relatives gathered Monday at Dunson's home -- a mile from the shooting -- and complained about the senselessness of the crime. They stared at a color photo of the Ben Davis High School football team. Dunson was a linebacker. He also was a "B student" and a churchgoer and planned to go to college, either to be a lawyer or a pro football player. "He was a good kid," said Leroy Dunson III, 39, another uncle. Of the shooter, he added: "The guy does not need to be on the street if he's shooting at a kid for throwing an egg."

The incident began around 11 p.m. when six or seven teenagers gathered at a Burger King. Some in the group, made up of both white and black youths, thought it would be fun to toss eggs at passing cars near Girls School and Rockville roads, said Sayles, who will be a freshman at Ben Davis this fall. He said they struck only a couple of vehicles. Sayles said that when one hit the truck, a man inside the vehicle stopped and got out. He yelled profanities at the boys and drove away. The teens decided to stop throwing eggs.

About 10 minutes later, as the boys walked along Rockville Road, the truck appeared again, and the teens said they heard a series of gunshots. "Everybody was scattering," said Sheriff's Capt. Doug Scheffel. "He was chasing them and shooting at them." In the chaos and uncertainty, the teens tried to escape. As they ran in front of a public storage facility in the 7400 block of Rockville Road, Michael Dyer, 17, was shot in the upper right thigh. Dunson was hit in the back and fell. One of the teens, Lamar Johnson, 16, told detectives they believed the motorist was firing a BB gun at them. They assumed Dyer's injuries were the most severe.

According to sheriff's reports, Johnson said they advised Dunson to "stay put" and they would return later to help him. Dyer ran home, and his father called 911. Wayne Township paramedics took Dyer to Methodist Hospital. Johnson said he and another teen went back to the shooting location around 2 a.m. and found Dunson lying in a pool of blood. They called 911 from a cell phone. Authorities said Dunson was found face down, shot in the back. It was unclear why hours passed before they checked on him. The parents of some of the teens said the boys frequently hung out together and were responsible and law abiding. Still, young people frequently don't foresee the possible consequences of their acts, said Robert Ross, juvenile justice specialist for the Indiana Juvenile Justice Task Force. "They're living for the moment," he said.

Michelle's Opinion

First of all, when I was 15 years old, my parents would never let me stay out past 11:00 p.m. I realize that most cities don't have much for teens to do these days. So, what's the best answer? Hang around fast food joints and parking lots...get drunk or high and act like an idiot? I have done some stupid and crazy things in my past, but what did these kids expect? If someone threw an egg at my car and it hit me in the head, I think my first instinct would be to get out of the car and kick some kid's ass. Although, if that really happened, I'm sure I'd be the one that was shot. I'm not saying that this driver had a right to shoot these kids, but in today's society you can't play the same kinds of pranks that you could get away with 20 years ago.

I feel sorry for the victim and his family, but I think that teens need to face consequences for their actions. When you throw eggs at cars and people that you don't know, how do you know what will happen?! What if this egg had caused an accident and innocent people were killed? You never know.

Word to the wise: Hey kids...don't act stupid. It may cost you your life.

Natalee Holloway

I have been riveted by the news over the last two months regarding the missing Alabama teen, Natalee Holloway. If you have been living under a rock and don't know about this case, Natalee Holloway is an 18-year old who visiting Aruba with fellow classmates celebrating their high school graduation. She disappeared in the early morning hours of Monday, May 30, 2005.

Natalee and her group of Mountain Brook High Schoolfriends were at the local bar, "Carlos-n-Charlies" for their last evening. She was last seen getting into a car with now suspect, 17-year old Joran Van der Sloot and two brothers, Satish and Deepak Kalpoe.

Everyday this case becomes more and more interesting with all the new clues and uncovering more lies from the suspects.

Latest News:

Million Dollar Reward For Safe Return Of Natalee Holloway

Beth and Jug Twitty just announced that the reward for the Safe Return of Natalee has just been upped to a million dollars, no questions asked. Although anonymity is illegal under Dutch Law, the Twitty's lawyer Vinda de Souza confirmed that all tips will remain anonymous. The 100,000 reward leading to the whereabouts of Natalee dead or alive remains the same.

New Witness In Natalee Holloway Case Claims To Know Where Her Body Is Located

With the FBI in town and the lead prosecutor out of town, the heat seems to be rising under the Natalee Holloway investigation in Aruba. One witness claims to be able to place all three boys at a popular racquetball club located approximately 200 yards from the Marriott Hotel where the boys first claimed to have dropped off Natalee Holloway. If true, that report could clear up one longstanding concern with the boys story. The beaches around the hotels are known to be covered with people well into the night, it might have been preferable for the boys to have taken Natalee Holloway to a more discreet location, like a racquetball club, had they been seeking some privacy.

Unconfirmed reports suggest Joran Van der Sloot, an athlete and accomplished young tennis player, may have frequented the racquetball club a few times a week. It's unclear if he had 24/7 access, or if the club somehow acted as a possible after hours party location for some, even a small group without the knowledge of club management. As to the where abouts of Natalee Holloway, it is at least suspected that some design may have went into the handling of those details.

It has been speculated that Paul(us) Van der Sloot, Joran's Father, may have played a role. If true, it is likely that his experience and expertise in the law may have led him to layer the puzzle surrounding the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. By making arrangements to dispose of her body, or disposing of it himself, he may have insulated his young son from interrogators bent on getting to the truth by witholding details, even from his son. Also, given the emerging details of where the boys may have actually been that night, it is possible that they did bury her initially in the sand, as an alleged early confession suggested, with the body having been re-located some time later.

Here are two links for blogs that religiously update their pages with new information regarding the case. These people dedicate themselves daily to getting behind the scenes news that you won't find on CNN or FOX NEWS.

Question of the week:

If Natalee Holloway is deceased, do you think Joran and the Kalpoe brothers are responsible? Do you think it was accidental? What are your theories?
