OLIVER STONE THE STONER

NOW I KNOW WHY SOME OF HIS
MOVIES REALLY SUCKED!!!

Oliver Stone may be fond of telling the stories of courageous rebels who rage against the system in his films, but his personal life is a different story.

Stone pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor pot possession charge on July 29, according to Los Angeles' City News Service.

Stone was busted at a police checkpoint on Sunset Boulevard May 27 for marijuana possession. He was taken into custody overnight and released after posting $15,000 bail.

While initial reports suggested Stone, 58, may have been intoxicated at the time of his Memorial Day weekend arrest, it appears that the director will not faces charges for driving under the influence.

"During the course of the contact, Mr. Stone exhibited symptoms of possible alcohol intoxication," the Beverly Hills Police Department said in a statement following the bust. "As the result of additional investigation, Mr. Stone was arrested for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and possession of a controlled substance." Stone has not been charged with a DUI and cops were apparently unable to prove he had actually smoked the marijuana in his possession that evening.

This is the second time Stone has been busted by police while driving in and around L.A. In 1999, Beverly Hills' finest stopped Stone for erratic driving. A subsequent search of his car turned up a virtual drugstore. According to police, Stone was caught red-handed with diet drug fenfluramine, the anxiety drug Meprobamate, the painkiller hydrocodone and a small amount of "concentrated" marijuana. For good measure, Stone also flunked a Breathalyzer test during the roadside stop.

Stone pleaded guilty to drug possession and no contest to the DUI charge stemming from the 1999 stop. As a result of the bust, Stone was sent to a rehab facility.
