Oprah: 'Best money I ever spent'

Hoosier suspected of sex crimes caught after she offers reward

As Oprah Winfrey presented $50,000 checks to a pair of North Dakota women who helped the FBI catch an Indiana man accused of being a sex offender, efforts were under way Tuesday to bring the man back to Southern Indiana for trial.

And when William C. Davis, 33, goes on trial, Winfrey said during an appearance on "Good Morning America," "I will be there with thousands of mothers."

On her show Tuesday, Winfrey said the reward for Davis was "the best money I ever spent." She is offering $100,000 rewards for information leading to the arrest of fugitives on her Child Predators Watch List.

Posey County Prosecutor Jodi Uebelhack said it could be several weeks before Davis is extradited to Indiana to face five child molesting counts and one charge of failure to register as a sex offender. He is facing related charges in Vanderburgh County.

Davis was arrested Thursday in Fargo, N.D., after two women identified him as one of the alleged sex offenders featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" two days earlier.

Davis served 28 months in prison after being convicted of child molestation in 1992.

According to court documents, Davis fled in August 2004 after learning police wanted to talk to him in connection with the alleged molestations of three boys in Posey and Vanderburgh counties.
