Man dies at finish line of Toronto marathon
A man running in the Toronto Marathon on Sunday died just after crossing the finish line. First aid personnel at the scene tried to revive him. He was transported to Mount Sinai hospital, which is relatively close to the finish line, but had no vital signs.
Witnesses say it took 15 minutes for an ambulance crew to reach the man because of road closures associated with the race. Officials haven't released the man's name, but CTV News Toronto reports he is a 36-year-old Torontonian.
His wife is reportedly in shock. One man from Guelph, Ont. died in last year's marathon as he came close to the finish line. There was another death in 2001.
