This is unbelievable. This woman has some nerve. And I'm being extremely nice here. There are hundreds of thousands of women that are abducted everyday for the purpose of sex trafficking. Everyday women go missing. Families grieve. Police authorities work over time. Tax dollars are spent needlessly. The public comes forward to help in vain.
WHY WOULD SHE DO THIS? Was her family that bad to her? I cannot speculate on her personal life, but this is NOT the way to leave your family and move on.
It is women like this who make it practically impossible for authorities to take missing person cases seriously. Back in the day when Ted Bundy was on the loose, the common statement police made regarding missing people, "Oh, they probaby just ran away..."
We cannot let that attitude to resurface! This woman should be punished like that idiot Jennifer Wilbanks from Georgia that faked her abduction to get out of a wedding. (By the way, her story is now turning into a "rock opera"...anything to make some bucks. Click here for story.)

'Missing' Miss Brazil found in UK
(Source)--A former Brazilian beauty queen, whose apparent disappearance triggered fears she had been kidnapped, has resurfaced in London after several months. Parents of Taiza Thomsen, crowned Miss Brazil in 2002, made a TV appeal after she failed to answer their calls.
The international police organisation, Interpol, as well as Brazilian and British police had searched for her. But the 24-year-old contacted Brazilian officers to say she was fine and simply wanted to be left alone. Brazilian police said that Miss Thomsen was living happily in London and did not want to contact her family.
"Thomsen reported that she was doing well in London and that she did not want to be found, even by her parents," Brazil's federal police said in a statement. "She has the right to stay isolated," they added. The former beauty queen was awarded the title of Miss Brazil in 2002 when the competition winner admitted that she was married.

I find interesting that you would defend the right of a person to harassed by the media and a family that may not be in agreement with what she is doing with her life.
Yes, crimes against woman are a HUGE problem. But two wrongs do not make a right as they say.
She did notify the authorities who have acknowledged her right to privacy. She may not have wanted, again for privacy reasons, entered in the rings of the media circus. Can you blame her for not wanting to be an unwitting victim of media persecution?
You may note that beauty queens often are tired of the unexpected attention they receive once they win a crown for their achievement in beauty. Fortunately, the liberties in both this country (mince is the USA) as well as the authorities in the relevant nations at hand, involved, and the authorities Britain and Brazil, acknowledge her divine and constitutional right to freedom and live her life the way she wishes.
While you may not see it this way, she is preventing becoming an international victim of media assault and exploitation ... and I support her in this decision.
So, respectfully, your outrage may be better placed than attacking a young women seeking a choice of privacy, as in this case, rather than attention.
Your energy may be better directed at the very real crimes that are indeed taking place if you truely are concerned about the well being of all young women.
Trafficking in Persons is all to real a problem to be trivialized when there is no real indication, even by authorities in this case, of any actual crime.
Consider becoming and advocate against real and actual vs. suspected crimes.
Respectfully Yours,

My whole point was that this GIRL lacked the common courtesy and was thoughtless in not letting anyone know she was gone. She didn't have to speak to anyone. She could have left a note or a message through a friend. It's not hard to do.
She didn't contact a soul for 5 months and you don't think that large amounts of money and time were spent by hundreds of individuals, friends and officials looking into the investigation of her possible abduction/disappearance?
My point is that she was selfish and had no concern for anyone but herself. If she wants to be alone, fine...but let someone know:
"I believe it's time for me to fly"...
Good luck to her in her new "anonymous" life...but she's still a selfish brat.
