MY RETORT TO AN ANONYMOUS BLOGGER

This my response to an anonymous blogger regarding Kanye West's Bush-Bash during the Hurricane Relief Telethon last weekend. My responses are in bold.

Please note: I am NOT a liberal or conservative. I am not a democrat or a republican. I am a HUMAN BEING first and foremost.

Anonymous: Hmm lets see who really does not care about the poor and black. Democrats for years have perpetuated a class and culture of dependency.

American dependency occurred because of the Depression. FDR wanted to save the economy including the health and welfare for those who needed help by creating "The New Deal".
In fact, at that time blacks weren't allowed to receive these benefits anyway. Eventually World War II came along which produced massive amounts of jobs. Welfare was never intended to be used as a crutch because of laziness or purposely-driven dependence.

Anonymous: They have suceeded in keeping people of any color just above or below the poverty line by giving them welfare and other government handouts.

In 1996, President Bill Clinton passed into law the abolishment of the welfare system and allowed each state to decide whether to utilize the welfare program.

I don't know what part of the country you are from, but these affected southern states are still living in a inner-society of racism, separationism, and discrimination. I was born and raised a 'Yankee' and even I know the history and present day cultural attitudes and inactions of southern whites to calm or eliminate their obsession with power and control over Black Americans.

Moreover, the democrats don’t control the government alone…it takes both parties to debate, agree/disagree, vote and pass laws. If it were a perfect world this wouldn’t even be a discussion. There are plenty of jobs for everyone; however, most of those jobs are specifically created as inexpensive, requiring unskilled laborers. These corporations do not pay enough for a person to sustain his/her own life, let alone the lives of their other family members.

I'd also like to point out that our elected politicians in the State, Local and Federal level are not solely responsible. The encouragement of apathy, negative cultural and societal changes, influence of the media and other propaganda, and the lack of basic quality education for everyone are other factors to explore.

A lot of the southern blacks who live in these poor, filthy, hopeless areas have lived there their entire lives. After the Civil War, most black families lost family members because they were sold off to other slave owners. As a consequence, many stayed in the south in hopes of finding their loved ones, and building a new future.

Remember, these events and consequences of the past are still present in some areas today. America is not an old country. Think about it...only 30-40 years ago our country was a different society. My grandfather and parents remember the era of "Jim Crow" and "Separate but Equal" laws. "They" can only piss here, can't eat at our restaurants and must drink from that fountain only.

As a consequence of the historical social injustices and lack of prosperity the blacks have suffered and endured throughout recent generations, this can cause riots. I'm not referring to today in New Orleans, or even in the last 10-15 years. Throughout history riots were commonplace everywhere in the world long before the United States was born. To those who feel dispossesed and powerless it can become an innate reaction to act out and demand the consideration of being treated as a human being.

Unfortunately, some take advantage of government assistance to get back at ‘the man’, because they feel they deserve it for all the years of slavery, racism, prejudices, etc. However, I absolutely do not condone the practice of looting to steal clothes and electronic equipment. That is just plain animalistic ignorance and those people should be held responsible for their actions.

I am a white female who has been given every opportunity to succeed in life. Many of these victims of the hurricane have never been given any opportunity. Imagine if your entire family, grandparents, great-grandparents and beyond have always lived in racist and segregated cities. In addition, most do not have the proper knowledge or education to help their offspring change their fate.
In psychology it's called the "cyclical pattern".

So these people become dependent on the government, so much so they cannot even find transportation to leave the city.

A lot of these people did not leave the city because many didn’t think that the hurricane would be so severe to damage the levy.

By the way, some are handicapped…how are they going to leave? Also, there are people out there who do not have a car. Don't you realize how fortunate you are? Do you know any poor people with well-off friends who can help them out? Do you think they have money for a bus ride? You have to realize that many of these people have never left their hometown…where are they going to go? The government or any private organizations provided evacuation transportation. How is a poor person supposed to buy a car, maintain upkeep, put expensive gas in the car, and pay insurance? Not everyone is as lucky as you.

Republicans and conservatives have always wanted and strive for people to be self-reliant to not rely on the government for anything unless you truly are handicapped and need it.

Then why are republicans helping out the Iraqi people? If that is a true or logical statement, then the same should apply here. When using that statement, you are saying that the Iraqi people should be self-reliant and not rely on the government (even the United States) to help. So why is our government (republican-backed) helping them? The Iraqi people are not handicapped…they are self-reliant, right? Their culture and fundamental religious beliefs and nature have been around for thousands of years…way before the Puritans crossed the Atlantic and killed for land that belonged to someone else.

I'll tell you why Iraqi's come before the poor American Blacks....MONEY. They serve no purpose to politicians.

What you have seen in NOLA (New Orleans) is a culmination of years and years of government dependence brought on by liberal democrats.

Please see all my above comments. Bottom line: these people need help from the government. Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are some of the poorest and lowest educated people in the country. Is it too much to ask for Mr. Bush and his cronies to help out so they can live and succeed like the rest of us?

Most of those poor soles left behind in NOLA (New Orleans) were doing what they were taught to do for generations sit back and let the government help them and they have paid dearly.

And whose fault is that? The 'white man'. They have been told what to do ever since they were kidnapped from their homeland, thrown like animals into boats connected by shackles and chains. You must realize that this new way of life we are trying to change is only 30-some years old.

I don’t think any progress will happen until future generations of Black Americans aren’t told by their parents and grandparents how they suffered and how they were affected by America's racist society in the early 20th century and specifically in the 1950’s and 60’s. These things STILL occur today in the south…which is exactly what I'm driving at.

Its this culture of dependency that has created a class of people black or white who do not know how to fend for themselves. This culture has been created by liberal democrats so they are the people who truly don't care about the poor or black. The democrats perpetuate this class of dependency so that they can get their votes, funny how democrats (the mayor)in NOLA could load up these same people in buses on election day to go to the polls but when a hurricane was looming those buses were not available hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

As I said, I don’t believe the people of New Orleans were adequately informed of the severity of the hurricane. Logistically, it is much easier to load a bus full of people to vote than to relocate thousands of people and their families to different states and cities with no belongings and not a dime to their name. Big difference.

my whole point in pointing out the bus use for voters and not for evacuees is to show that it seems that democrats seem to care about votes more than people's lives. so Mr. Wests tirade could have been directed at the govornor or mayor as wellbut Bush is hated by so many people it is understandable that if something goes wrong you blame the guy you hate.
