Andrew Jay McGrath
CARMEL, Ind. -- A school employee was charged Tuesday with a federal count of sexual exploitation of children after an investigation that involved several law enforcement agencies.
U.S. Attorney Tim Morrison said Andrew Jay McGrath, 30, of Carmel, produced images of a 5-year-old girl engaging in sexually explicit conduct on two occasions, in May and August of this year.
McGrath was employed as an instructional assistant at Tri-County Education Center in Noblesville, said Carmel Clay Superintendent Dr. Barbara Underwood. He was fired on Tuesday.
McGrath had been employed by the Hamilton-Boone-Madison Special Services Cooperative since January 2008, Underwood said.Morrison said there was no connection between images that were found on McGrath's computer and the school system.
If convicted on both counts, McGrath could receive a maximum prison sentence of 60 years.

Unfortunately, if someone doesn't have a prior offense then you don't know what they are capable of until it is too late. Parents have to be diligent in teaching their kids about possible dangers. You can't put all of your trust in the school system to do that for you. They are just a piece of the pie.
We don't know if he has prior offenses. And the victim involved is a 5 year old girl. I don't think that the school he was employed at had anything to do with this girl. Who knows where or when he met or knew this child. There are many questions to be answered, and hopefully the media releases information so I can follow up.
Friend,
If you had a son, brother, friend, cousin, father, or close person to you that did this.....
How would you handle this. Are you sypathetic to the person? He was a good person growing up. Friendly, compasionate, caring. What do you do when a good person becomes a monster? Is it your fault? Society, are we to blame that we do not take care of our children as well as each other? Is it your fault? No, but where is compassion for someone who has become a monster? Was/ Is he mentally confused?
Think before you post?
Hang him is inappropriate, as he/she is not always
Sorry, I have no compassion for sex offenders. As a 2x rape victim, this is how I feel because I've been through it. If it were my relative I wouldn't feel sorry for him either. I would be angry, ashamed and appalled. I would have no qualms about the judge throwing the book at him. We are talking about a man who had photos of a 5 year old child involved in a sexual acts. I have a 5 year old son and I would be devastated because those who are victimized live with that the rest of their lives. Some can move on to live normal lives, but many other cannot. This poor child will most likely have serious psychological issues for the rest of her life. Do I feel compassion for her? YES. Do I have compassion for the perpetrator, NO.
Let's agree to disagree... :)
I personally know this man. I worked with him and because he dated one of my best friends, I had the oppertunity to hang out with him quite a bit. Andy had always been a good person on the outside, and I have no idea what was going through his head. I too think he deserves to get punished for what he did. This was his first offense in the judicial system. I am horrified that he would do this to anyone. He will get what is coming to him. Especially in the end. GOD WILL JUDGE HIM!
