SWEET GHOST STORY

If you read my posts frequently and/or know me personally, you know how much I am interested in the supernatural...especially since this involves pictures. This story is crazy!

A Rochester couple has a Halloween mystery on their hands. Negatives from old photographs keep showing up on their garage floor and they have no idea where they are coming from. The most recent negative appeared about a week ago.

Elise Carter owns the home and says she is a sensible person of sound mind but the mysterious photos have her rationalizing about where they're coming from and curious about the people depicted in them.

Since she and her husband moved into their Wellington Avenue house two years ago, six old photograph negatives have mysteriously appeared in their garage.

"Always one at a time and not at any regular interval but always within the same radius of about 3 feet in the garage. Always in the same place."

The first one she found shortly after they moved in, but she didn't even bother to save it figuring it was just left behind by a previous owner. But over the past several months, every time she opened the garage door, another negative would be waiting in the same spot. The pictures all appear to be from the 1920s or 30s.

"The last one I found a week ago Friday was one adult woman and six children so maybe the mother...who knows?"

Some of them appear to have been taken in back of Elise's house. The cedar clapboard on the home is similar to what was used when the house was built around 1912 but other photos show a different address "I think my other favorite one is this little child standing on the front steps of the number 80 house and he or she has a little jumpsuit on and hair's blowing and just looks happy...free and happy."

But where are they coming from? "If you want to be really logical, you could say someone's pushing them under the door, but I can't imagine why anybody would be doing that."

A better explanation: squirrel. The edges of the negatives appear to be chewed but inside the garage, there's no real place from where they would fall.

Elise has even used a ladder and flashlight to check the rafters. "I'm a very down to earth, sensible person and I honestly believe the squirrels are probably responsible, but it's getting a little eerier than I'd expect."

Even if it is squirrels, that still doesn't explain where the negatives of these unidentified people came from originally? "We can suppose they're trying to tell me something. That's what they're telling me and paranormal and my son was teasing. He says they want you to recognize them mom and if you put them all around the house they'll stop bothering you."

Still, Elise says all the mystery of these images doesn't frighten her. “It feels kind of friendly even though people are trying to make it into something spooky. It just feels like a friendly little reminder of the past and my house."

Elise Carter says she'd love to know more about the people in the pictures and hopes that by showing them to us, someone will recognize the subjects and perhaps put names to the faces.
